Psalm 55:17 Use your evening time wisely and thoughtfully

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Psalm 55:17

Notice that it does not say morning, noon and night. It says evening and morning and at noon.

The Jewish day began at sunset.

It was a 12 hour day and a 4 watch night.

The day begins at sunset because God made creation in that order.
"And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day."

I once heard a sermon by Clarence Sexton on His Family Faith Hour.  He emphasized that the eveing is important because it is actually the beginning of a new day. We should not fritter away our time watching foolishness on television. Evening should be for being with family, Bible study, meditation and thoughtfulness.

I find the evening (beginning of the day after supper) to a great time for gratitude and for listening to Christian radio.
